Specialty Contact Lenses
Gavin is a Clinical Optometrist and a partner in a private practice in Norwood, South Australia, and holds Fellowships of the American Academy of Optometry, the Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia and the Scleral Lens Society.
He has an appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Adelaide, and is Head of the Contact Lens Clinic in Ophthalmology Outpatients at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
He sits on the advisory committee of the Doctor of Optometry degree course at the University of Melbourne, and is on the Board of Directors of Optometry Australia www.optometry.org.au (2007 - current).
He also is a Director of the charitable ophthalmic organisation, Sight For All www.sightforall.org (2012 - current), which conducts teaching, research, public health education and infrastructure support in partner countries in South East Asia. He has conducted teaching trips in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Bangladesh, and has coordinated the establishment of specialist contact lens clinics within hospital ophthalmology clinics in Hanoi and Phnom Penh.
